Who said you have to be a Survivalist to start Storing Food!. Part One

There are many reasons to start storing food up. One very important reason is job loss. Right now we see unemployment on the rise. There are several that suggest the unemployment rate will reach over 10% in 2011. From The Huffington Post to Fox News. .. just to name a few.

Now what would you do? Unemployment benefits are not enough for the average family to even make their mortgage payment or rent.

Right now is the time to consider what you would do in a situation where you had to make hard choices. A time when suddenly things like a roof over your head, and food on the table are the most important things in the world.

So let’s talk about what you can do now, right now, today.

Food Storage is something you can start right now and it is easier than you think.

First, let’s consider when you might need food storage. Unemployment, natural disasters, man made event such as a union strike for the grocery stores or trucking companies. Yes these do happen…..The California Grocery Strike of 2003-2004. If you or anyone you new lived through that strike, they will remember the lack of items available and the inflated prices for things because of the demand. The best part of the strike, the long lines in small stores to get things like eggs, milk or bread.

Now think about your family, what do you eat, what do you like, what are your luxury items that you could not do without? Is it chocolate? Is it baked goods?

Next, think about what your family dislikes. What is it that you will never get them to even try let alone eat in an emergency?

Last, grab a paper and pencil and go to the pantry and make notes on the things you already have on hand. This will tell you a lot about the items you should be storing. Make sure you also jot down the 10 meals your family eats the most.

Now look you! Already that much closer to creating your own food storage plan!
